Toonies for Tomorrow

The goal is ambitious but necessary—$300,000 must be raised by the Sendero Centre in the next few months to ensure essential services continue for those who rely on them and us.

This is a very important moment for our agency. We are deeply concerned for our clients and the families we support across Central Alberta. If we do not get the support we need over the next two months, we will have to reduce services, which means fewer programs, fewer staff, and fewer resources for the people who have been impacted by sexual violence, abuse and trauma.

In 2024,  the Sendero Centre provided over 1,000 interactions through our 24-Hour Support Line and conducted 3,400 counseling appointments, supporting 358 adults and 273 children. Currently, 158 clients are receiving care through our Resource Specialist program, while 141 individuals are at the intake and waiting list level. Each day, we welcome an average of 15–20 clients seeking essential support. Our work spans across generations, offering help to individuals and families from all walks of life—supporting children just a few years old to elders in their 90s. Last year, we also delivered 760 educational presentations, equipping communities with the knowledge and tools to foster respect,  awareness, prevention, and healing.

Now, we need to ask for help from Central Alberta.

The Sendero Centre will be hosting ‘ Toonies for Tomorrow’ throughout the month of June, starting on June 2 and wrapping up on Friday, June 20.

Donation portals will be set up at locations around Red Deer and Central Alberta, collecting cash and online donations. Individuals and community groups are also being encouraged to ‘donate a toonie, a twenty or more’ online or at one of the various locations around Central Alberta. Businesses are being encouraged to round up sales or donate proceeds from a certain product or service.

For more information, sponsorship opportunities or to become a donation portal host, please contact Christi via email calbers-manicke@senderocentre.ca
